Accessibility Statement

Last updated: September 15, 2026

Draft statement. This statement is under review and will be updated when our accessibility evaluation is complete.

Our commitment

CaseRail Technologies Inc. wants everyone, including people with disabilities, to be able to use CaseRail: residents applying for permits, reporting issues, tracking requests and making payments through a public portal, and the staff who handle that work. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA, the standard public bodies in British Columbia are expected to work toward under the Accessible British Columbia Act.

Conformance status

CaseRail has not yet been fully evaluated against WCAG 2.1 Level AA, and we do not currently claim conformance. An evaluation is in progress; this section will state the result, the date and the method when it is complete.

What we do today

  • Automated accessibility checks (axe-core, WCAG 2.0 and 2.1 Level A and AA rules) run on every proposed change for the public portal, sign-in, intake forms, records lists, record pages and the form designer. Changes that introduce serious or critical issues are not accepted.
  • Every page has a “Skip to main content” link and a visible keyboard focus indicator.
  • Abbreviations show their full form, and pickers support typing to filter and keyboard selection.
  • The interface follows the operating system’s reduced-motion setting and supports browser zoom.

Known limitations

We are aware of, or still checking, the following areas:

  • Screen-reader testing (NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver, TalkBack) of the full apply, track and pay journeys has not yet been completed.
  • Forms, pages and colours that an organization configures for its own portal are outside our direct control; we give administrators guidance and defaults that meet contrast requirements.
  • Maps, drag-and-drop designers and payment fields provided by third parties may not be fully accessible. Each has a text or keyboard alternative where we provide one; tell us if you find one that does not.
  • Documents uploaded by organizations or residents (for example scanned PDFs) may not be accessible.

Feedback and help

If you have difficulty using any part of CaseRail, or need information in a different format, contact the organization whose portal you are using, or contact us at legal@caserail.app with “Accessibility” in the subject. Tell us the web address, what you were trying to do and the assistive technology you use, if any. We aim to reply within 5 business days.
